Things to do:

TIDY UP MY BEDROOM (it's an unGodly mess)

take pots downstairs
put the dishwasher on
hang up all clothes in their propper places
put general crap away where it's supposed to go (not on the floor)
make my bed
sort out washing/ rubbish/ recycling
hoover the floor -  and not going to lie, possibly the walls too.

after this, i can start posting on things that matter. Got an interview at DeMontfort for the 21st of March, and many things to do to prepare.

Today, i'll be making some example sketchbooks.

okay, so i didn't post yesterday - or do more life drawing. Shhh. Can't have it all... BUUUUT i did do some almost recognisable drawings of Jake today. (yay) For those of you who don't know, i have trouble with his face. He's the only person i've ever met whom i've repetatively failed to draw.

Anyway, todays drawings are done in biro (which i forgot how much i love) on A3 paper.

Pleased especially with this second one :D

Chill out, its only his face, i'm not posting his-- errrm, other bits for all to see.

It's not very "Jake-y" i know. But i figure the techniques aren't bad, and therefore is a success. (woo)

Will continue do these each day from this point forwards. (Haven't told Jake this yet though.)

the collage was progressing nicely (and once i've finished it i'm sure i'll post that) but i got distracted by something i've decided to call Jacob's Ladder.

I tried to individually photograph each part of the image, but i used FAR TOO MUCH PEARLESCENT PAINT!
So this is what happened:

So, this is it. This is what i'm doing at this silly time of the morning. What i most and least want to be doing right now.

So that was Stage one. Then i decided to colour the heart and centre it

.

Theres not much more i wanted to do to the drawing, i realise it looks incomplete, scratchy perhaps, but this is entirely my intention. I may experiment a little more though,  i have an idea ;)

 I've but it to just this part. I liked the wobbly edges, and i still want to add the norse, but i think this is much stronger as an image.

 Much happier with the woobly edged one :D and the little dots of white above kind of look like stars... any need for the Norse? i  think it will be fine.

Today. Just.

Today i did my life drawing of my female model. I'm generally not happy with the result and will need another session for portfolio pieces. I did, do this little doodle though. For you,  you know who you are, and what it represents.

okay, so i lied.

yeah yeah, promised uploads and stuff. pfft. I am terribly ill right now. Yesterday, I stayed in bed. I did a small diagram drawing, but did not upload. Today i think i may do better, who knows?  :)

ANATHEMA

just played around with text and image today. 15 minute excercise. I've been continueally ill for some time now. It's starting to affect me creatively. Next week (tomorrow) i promise to put effort in, and create interesting things!

Ergh.

I'm having one of those days where the effort it takes to draw digitally, is just not there. I've decided to do some ink sketches and upload them to here instead. On the plus side i have gained:

my portfolio come interview time will be better for it. (wooop)
I sent off ucas yesterday, and because i had a wonderful reference, i reckon i'll get interviews.
i hope so anyway. A lot is riding on this.

In the middle of it all, i still have my drawing, and knowing that i'm improving every day makes it the focus of my life.

So apparently,

Stress is an amzing creative tool...

bit more work on the face. It needs blending, and the eyes and nose aren't quite right. 

I got stressed out by the face, so started on the body. I'll come back to it later ;)

There is still too much of a soul in her eyes.

This needs fixing.

Things aren't always as they seem.

okay, so i know it looks bad, but its not intentional... its just what came out.
I guess i know what's on my mind.

you know what, i've lost far too much sleep over this already. I think i'm going to try to get some now.

Work in Progress.

started to create image in Adobe Illustrator. This includes the very beginnings of tone and colour, along with basic line. I hope to develop this into a more refined work.

here more tonal detail has been added, as well as some texture. Most of the initial black lines have been removed or painted over.

This is the same image zoomed in to 2400% whilst i work on the face and especially the eyes. Currently working on the right eye.

As you can see, the image is gradually becoming more sophisticated. Increasing layers of  mark making have been added over the last three hours.

After the initial start with the face, it becomes quickly easier to develop texture, and depth of mark. This next screen shot was take only twenty minutes after the last, and yet i feel i have achieved a lot in this time.

This shot is only five minutes from the last.
Things to do now:
-Sort out the face shape
- give the hair more texture
- add more tone to the face defining it

Focusing on the face makes the difference between objective and subjective,

I'm really annoyed! There is something SO not right about the face (which i keep on playing around with) but cannot get it quite right. It's bugging me. However, i think this version is at least an improvement!

I'm tempted to say this is finished. However, 1/ I'm a firm believer in the theory that no piece of art is ever finished, and 2/ I've just stopped because i'm tired of it now!

So, as it happens, i don't want to spend twelve years of my life watching t.v.
Apparently, though - this is normal. What though, do i fill my time with instead? What can  I  do that makes a jot of difference. All i got is this. Art. I have created, and depend upon certain theories that the mass populus don't understand. I have a way of seeing the world, which is different.

New Start

So yeah, hi, and stuff. I did this picture on adobe Illustrator. Its really freeing sometimes to to scribble, and not care where the lines go. Anyway, I figure its a new year, and a new start. I'll try and upload lots of pictures, because it will be fun. Normally i'm rubbish at writing blogs, and I never update them. Lets see how long this resolution lasts. I wouldn't make bets.
