THE BIG PAINTING

Okay so it's almost as big as me! Currently leant against my wardrobe and done in childrens poster paints (i can't afford that much expensive paint) Its so far from finished, but i can't decide what to do next? Any ideas??
I have a few but...?

MASK WORK

So far i have (almost) completed one mask. Below you will find a copy of my plan, and an image so far! So here, ye of little faith, is my MASTERPIECE :) so far:

It still needs the HUGE black and blue feathers!!!

charcoal drawings (4)

These are all A2 in size. The most time was spend on day 12 (Mr. Joe Goring), taking fifteen minutes aprox
and the least time spent on day1 (Heart Shaped Glasses) which took less than five minutes.
These are excersises in working in charcoal because it's a fun medium, but my skills are well below par, and need improving!

Stuff

Hi!
It's been a while, hasn't it?

How are you?
Good, i'm glad you're okay, i kind of like you.
me?
Well, i got the place i wanted at university, and will be changing course in september! (woo!) This is fantastic news. I've been doing loads of really creative things recently, and will be uploading pictures shortly.
Heres some of the stuff i've been doing:

- BIG paintings
- making sketchy b's.
-sewing posters
- making huge, abnormal theatrical masqurade masks, from a variety of materials.

(at the moment i'm the most proud of the one i'm doing for jake, because it's a crow, and theres black sequins and feathers everywhere.) ALSO (speaking of jake he's on the otherside of the world right now, which sucks, so i'm distracting myself with art - which does not suck. It's awesome, and i'm having a whale of a time :D)
- working with charcoal (i'm getting much better at this woo!)
- small scale collages

Alll these wonderful things i'll be posting as soon as i can get pictures (jake took his flashy camera with him, so i have to borrow my dads.)

young beth

So the final one of these now 0.o
This is good because they need to go to print on thursday.

original image is nice, but scruffy.

For example there is no detail in the eyes.  This is layer 1.

This is layer two. I have begun to work into the original image.

This is layer 1 and 2 combined. (looking better than the first one already!)
Having created a third layer by this point, welcome to layers 1,2, and 3.

layers 2, 3 and 4 (yes4!) are developing nicely, with layer 1 hidden.

Old Beth Development

Woo the chair has been added! this is only layers 2 & 3 so the orgional drawing is out o' here!

Started to do the dark swirls before realising they're in the opposite direction to the way the light falls. RESTART!

This is better :)

Added the light deffending old beth.

then decided to take her eyes out, since they detracted from the image. It works because it links to the "magic" in the goggles.

Witchy. and stuff.

do it a bit more subtley beth!

any suggestions? comments, questions? It would be really good to get some feedback :D inbox me?

Old Beth (creepy!)

so, i built this for "Beth (now)"

The steps are as follows:

Original drawing.

Keep the chair, and the original outline, just change    the clothes and add about a billion wrinkles!
Completed origional drawing, needs a professional finish to it.Enter beth with new leite ninja skills

Working over the origional image, face starts to gather some depth. I copy pasted, and altered the eyes from "Beth (now)"

This is creepy! I've hidden the original layer. AAAAANND this is the top layer. 0.o

okay, so the lips are horrifying. Yes, horrifying. I'll have to do something about those sharpish.

this is all selected so it can be filled in.

the face is starting to work out. those lips still need sorting out though

Beth (now)

okay so most of you lot have seen this before, but good stuff is happening to it!

Second image was for a project, but now i'm polishing it off for my portfolio.

This image contains so much more detail than the last and it is also a vector image. For those of you who don't know: Vector images are beautiful things. They can stretch as much as you like and will not pixelate. This image will be printed and mounted on A1 size paper next week.

okay so i realise this actually looks worse than the last one BUT it's like when you tidy your room, and you decide that the usual bodge job won't do, so you tidy under your bed and everything. Before you're done it looks wprse than when you started, but then when you ARE done it's all sparkly. This is what's happening here :)  ... i swear...

so SEE. i told you, the dress is now starting to come together. I might get there eventually.

look closely at the detail in this small section. The piece of work is starting to become stressful after hours and hours (lots) of work. Still with another two piece to complete to finish the set.

Okay so heres a couple more things to do with this:
-clean up the hair
- make the goggle beams more prominent
- sort a background of some kind
- do a bit more work on the tones
- clean up and "fancify" the chair

and finally

- do the hands.
All this is giving me a headache now though :( so going to start work on the second of the set "old beth"

Things to do:

TIDY UP MY BEDROOM (it's an unGodly mess)
(sub cat.)

take pots downstairs
put the dishwasher on
hang up all clothes in their propper places
put general crap away where it's supposed to go (not on the floor)
make my bed
sort out washing/ rubbish/ recycling
hoover the floor -  and not going to lie, possibly the walls too.

after this, i can start posting on things that matter. Got an interview at DeMontfort for the 21st of March, and many things to do to prepare.

Today, i'll be making some example sketchbooks.

Man Candy ;)

okay, so i didn't post yesterday - or do more life drawing. Shhh. Can't have it all... BUUUUT i did do some almost recognisable drawings of Jake today. (yay) For those of you who don't know, i have trouble with his face. He's the only person i've ever met whom i've repetatively failed to draw.
Anyway, todays drawings are done in biro (which i forgot how much i love) on A3 paper.

Pleased especially with this second one :D

Peace out x

(male) life drawing : upload 1

Chill out, its only his face, i'm not posting his-- errrm, other bits for all to see.

It's not very "Jake-y" i know. But i figure the techniques aren't bad, and therefore is a success. (woo)

Will continue do these each day from this point forwards. (Haven't told Jake this yet though.)

Jacob's Ladder, and A bit of everything,

Today, I've been collaging.
Materials Used:
Glue
Ink
Found Images
Found text
Pearlescent Paint
Biro

Here is some of my progress:
( might edit the top one further digitally drawing over the original images, and make something playful out of it - that would be nice!)

the collage was progressing nicely (and once i've finished it i'm sure i'll post that) but i got distracted by something i've decided to call Jacob's Ladder.

I tried to individually photograph each part of the image, but i used FAR TOO MUCH PEARLESCENT PAINT!
So this is what happened:

Most of the details got left out. After uploading the photograph, i edited them back in again :)

Jacob's Ladder:

I alsmost forgot: A bit of everything. (some rouge doodles)

IT.

So, this is it. This is what i'm doing at this silly time of the morning. What i most and least want to be doing right now.
So that was Stage one. Then i decided to colour the heart and centre it

.
Theres not much more i wanted to do to the drawing, i realise it looks incomplete, scratchy perhaps, but this is entirely my intention. I may experiment a little more though,  i have an idea ;)

I've but it to just this part. I liked the wobbly edges, and i still want to add the norse, but i think this is much stronger as an image.

Much happier with the woobly edged one :D and the little dots of white above kind of look like stars... any need for the Norse? i  think it will be fine.
